LEED Points
LEED Certification

All of our materials qualify for LEED Points.   Our reclaimed materials are all salvaged within a 500 mile radius from our yard in Salem, Oregon.   We dismantle the barns by hand ourselves and use very little machinery.    Our primary focus is to minimize the impact on the land and reduce carbon emissions.

LEED MR 5 Local Materials or MR 4 Recycled Content

We can provide documentation on origination of materials as needed for LEED certification.

Additionally, our use of BORACARE, a non VOC wood treatment qualifies for points under LEED.

Barnwood Naturals, LLC is committed to only selling reclaimed woods that we can stand behind  and we do.   All of the materials we sell come with a Lifetime Guarantee and will be bug and pest free.    Our use of Boracare allows us to provide this type of assurance to our clients.

Why It Makes Sense

Green builders using Boracare have eliminated more than 120 million gallons of diluted termiticide from being applied to the soil across the United States.

Boracare penetrates the wood and remains in the wood, providing years of sustainable and safe protection.

Boracare emits no VOCs  (Volatile Organic Compounds).

Boracare treated wood provides protection from subterranean, Formosan and drywood termites as well as wood boring beetles, carpenter ants and wood decay fungi.   It also provides general pest protection by making the treated wood areas uninhabitable by all pests.

Green builder magazine selected Boracare for its inaugural Overall Grand Prize, Best of Show award at the 2006 National Green Building Conference.

Bruce Wadleigh is the owner/operator of Barnwood Naturals, LLC.   The company is a small, "home grown" operation in Salem, Oregon.    Bruce's passion for design and reducing the carbon footprint left on the planet are at the core of what drives him and his company.

Initially, he set off to find and create new innovative products utilizing 100% reclaimed materials. "Finding new and creative ways to use old wood and metals are what make this so much fun" says Wadleigh.   "I never feel tired doing what I do...the problem is that I have far more ideas than time!".

Rebuilding old barns in new locations has become an important part of our business.    Some barns are worth saving and those that are get a new life elsewhere.   In these cases, each "bent" is carefully numbered allowing it to be rebuilt as it was originally.    Here are photo's of barns that are scheduled to be rebuilt as barns or homes/businesses in new locations.

Our Safety Inspector

Kevin Raschko is a "special" team member, (as evidenced by his tongue sticking out).    By day he is the Branch Manager of West Coast Bank, Monmouth Branch.   After 5pm, he becomes the ladder-carrying specialist for Barnwood Naturals.    It takes great balance and incredible focus to do this job.
